About Weightless Planet Records
Weightless Planet Records is an independent label dedicated to sounds that drift just outside the expected.
Founded somewhere between a basement tape deck and a 4-track purchased with money from an acting gig , the label has always leaned toward the imperfect—the slightly warped, the overdriven, the beautifully unfinished. What started as a way to document local experiments in sound slowly grew into a catalog of artists connected less by genre and more by atmosphere.
Lo-fi, alternative, punk, ska, noise, and everything in between - if it feels like it belongs late at night or slightly out of orbit, it probably fits here.
This isn't a nostalgia project, but it doesn't ignore where it came from either. The influence of hand-dubbed tapes, photocopied inserts, and early web experiments still shows up in how things are presented. The goal isn't polish—it's character.
Some of the artists here are active. Some haven't recorded in years. Some releases exist only because someone thought to press “record” at the right time. That's part of the point.
Weightless Planet Records isn't trying to keep up. It's just documenting what passes through.
